There’s something really special about the whole process of digging up clay from the side of the pond under the ancient oak tree, bringing it up to the yard, preparing it for throwing over about 3 weeks then finally being able to create something so beautiful and functional.
Hey, I’m Callum
A creative, an artist, a farmer and potter.
I make earthenware ceramics using hand dug clay from the field 50 metres from my studio.
Once I have dug up the clay I dry it, break it up, soak it, sieve it all in the process to prepare it for throwing. This takes about three weeks to make sure that it is clean and suitable for throwing and firing.
After such a labored process it is wonderful to be able to create such characterful yet organic ceramics.
